National Board of Certified Counselors

    The National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. and Affiliates (NBCC), an independent not-for-profit credentialing body for counselors, was incorporated in 1982 to establish and     monitor a national certification system, to identify those counselors who have voluntarily sought and obtained certification, and to maintain a register of those counselors.

National Alliance on Mental Illness

NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need.

NAMI is the foundation for hundreds of NAMI State Organizations, NAMI Affiliates and volunteer leaders who work in local communities across the country to raise awareness and provide essential and free education, advocacy and support group programs.


South Dakota Board of Examiners –Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists

The board protects the South Dakota consumers of counseling and marriage and family therapy services by mandatory licensing of qualified applicants. 


South Dakota Board of Addiction and Prevention Professionals

The board provides a foundation for the continuing development of practitioners in the field as well as the credentialing of of alcohol and drug professionals within the general accepted standards of professionalism and competence using valid and reliable examinations
